A little background:

I had the privilege of growing up in Santa Barbara, California. I am the oldest of four girls and wife to the most amazing husband. Growing up sports were always an important part of my life. I still love being physically active. I hold being active as an important component of living a healthy lifestyle.

My husband, our bernedoole Rue and I live in Orange County. We love to be active and outside any chance we get. On our free time you will most likely find us at the beach or on a walk to grab coffee.

Health background: Growing up I always suffered from stomach aches, bloating, and constipation. There wasn’t much information on stomach issues then.We always felt lost on what direction to take. I just assumed that this would be my baseline of health and would just deal with it. It wasn’t until I was 18 years old when Paleo became popular. I decided to hop on the Paleo train and became a little too obsessed. I was loosing weight, under-eating and working out 2 times a day. In my mind I was finally “healthy”. It became such an obession that I stoped menstruating. I assumed this meant I was super healthy. My gut issues had only resolved a little bit, but I was happy. It wasn’t until I jumped back into water polo when I realized I needed more food. I decided to go gluten free, but often found I was still bloated and had stomach issues.

The gut issues never completed stopped. At the age of 26 I was diagnosed with irritable bowl syndrome (IBS) and hypothyroidism. The gastroenterologist doctor prescribed medication and said I’d have to take it for the rest of my life and no diet would ever help. I left feeling extremely disheartened and angry. I felt like there was some way that food could help repair and support my gut and thyroid issues (IBS and hypothyroid are often times connected).

A year later I found the nutrition school, Bauman College. Since going through the nutrition program my thyroid levels have improved and are mostly stable. I rarely have IBS flare-ups and my stomach issues have almost dissipated. I have learned the importance of organic foods not only for health benefits, but environment as well. Food is meant to nurture our bodies and make us thrive. Vitality can be found through food, lifestyle, and mental wellbeing. Now that I have gone through this health journey I am thankful I can share my knowledge with others.
